500,000 Verdict Auto v. Auto

A jury awarded $537,000 to Shawna Davi and her husband after an accident caused by defendant Amel Sederi (in course and scope of her employer, defendant Jacob Holm Industries) resulted in the exacerbation of Davi’s pre-existing cervical disc herniations, new lumbar disc bulges, and chronic pain. While Davi sought two epidurals and ongoing econservative treatment for the aforementioned pain and injuries following the accident, the defendants claimed that Davi only suffered a minor injury and, consequently, only required limited, short term therapy. The defendants further claimed that as Davi’s cervical disc herniations existed before the accident occured, causation for her current complaints and the necessity of future treatment required apportionment.
